Oops – radio exclusive delayed

Owing to a full schedule on Adam Waltons’s show last night, Adamsdown Song will get its first radio play on Adam’s show next Sunday, 17 May, by which time, hopefully, the CD will also be available.

We’re going to make a big attempt to get to the top of Soundclick’s pop chart by asking everyone to go to www.soundclick.com/adamsdownjuniors and download or play the track on Monday 18 May – please copy this message to everyone you know. Soundclick is the internet’s number one site for people uploading their own music.

More news on the CD soon.

Song finished, CD cover chosen

The final overdubs were completed yesterday, Adamsdown Song has been mixed and the CDs will be manufactured very soon.

Congratulations to Georgia Ellul whose design has been chosen for the CD cover. It was a tough decision and all the other designs will be on exhibition in Roath Library shortly.

More news on the song launch and that exhibition as soon as details have been finalised.

Check the download page for where you can find the song on the web.

Final mix – sorry, more delays

As the Atrium studios are particularly busy at the moment, the final mix of Adamsdown Song has unfortunately been delayed a little longer, till the first week in May. That means the launch event and exhibition will also be later than planned, but we are aiming to do a really professional job, so hopefully it will be worth the wait!

In the meantime, more material from pupils will be going up on the website.

STOP PRESS: The song will be finished, all being well, on Thurs 7 May, after which it’ll be available on download and we’ll start making the CDs.

CD cover finalists chosen!

Five finalists have been chosen for the CD cover design competition – well done to Georgia Ellul, Rumel Khan, Mohammed Kone, Shannon Manfield and Hamse Mohammed. It really was difficult whittling all the entries down to these five from all the fantastic designs. Unfortunately some couldn’t be considered because they couldn’t be scanned onto a computer, but these will now qualify for a separate award for best overall artwork, and all designs will be put on exhibition at Roath Library in May.

Below are clickable thumbnails of how the CD covers might look – the artists are in alphabetical order, as above. There will be a public opinion survey before a final choice is made – comments are welcome here.

Rough mix finished

Unfortunately the studios at the Atrium are now fully booked, so the final version of Adamsdown Song won’t be completed until after Easter. However, Gwill, the studio engineer, has managed to make a rough mix of the song with pupils’ vocals to be going on with. That should be going up on the Adamsdownhere website (link on the right) and can also be found on the download page here. Meanwhile all the artwork and poems should be finished this week, and the CD cover will then be chosen.

Vocals are done!

The Atrium mobile studio spent this morning at Stacey Primary and the afternoon at Adamsdown Primary, recording the vocals for Adamsdown Song. All three local schools provided singers. The solo singers did amazingly well, especially under the pressure of being recorded, and the group choruses weren’t bad either! There are a few stray notes to straighten out in the studio, then it will all be mixed down with some overdubs to create the finished product. More news next week on that.
